When confronted with a dry mountainside and parched vineyards the industrious Swiss applied their engineering skills and ‘pa capona’ (it can be done) attitude to channel water from the wet side of Mount Prebe to the dry side.

The Swiss of Valais live in a vertical world
Presently the solution involves an irrigation tunnel and holding lakes but back in the early 1900’s the solution was hand-dug channels along the precipitous sides of the mountain above Sion in the Valais region of the Swiss Alps.
