Metates??

*****

You tell me.

*****

Out of nowhere there they were.

Not one or a couple but five, lined up and spaced in what would make ergonomic sense.

*****

After I got over feeling both dumbfounded and awed I took a step back and sized up the area.

On a rise in the high country off of the gap in the Peloncillos that dropped down abruptly with views south to Mexico and west to the Chircahuas.

Excellent sightlines

*****

I tend to be a live wire when it comes to energy in the environment; this spot had it. Between the metates from the past and a pickup truck cowboy campfire from the present, this spot was long attractive to travelers and wanderers.
